Blog and Reflective Synopsis

Blog and Reflective Synopsis

Introductions

ICT has been introduced to education for decades, I do appreciate that we have this subject as one of GDLT papers, since I believe today’s education cannot achieve its ideal outcome well enough without it.  E-learning has already been successfully implemented in education system in variety of forms: multimedia digital tools, computer based classes, internet based online education, online study collaboration and so on. Introducing ICT to education has changed the way of teaching, and I agree that today’s teachers need to be equipped with the efficient digital pedagogy to engage learners to achieve an effective teaching and learning outcome.
My learning experience with ICT paper is eye opening. It has introduced me to a new concept of learning and teaching - digital pedagogy. I have studied how to choose and use the right digital tool to enhance learning and teaching outcome. The following synopsis is about my learning experience with some of the digital tools in the last 5 weeks, and how those will help me to enhance learners’ experiences.

Wiki reflection:

My very first experience with Wiki was company discussion forum in Wiki space at my previous job. It had a lot of users’ participation at the beginning because the tool was easy to use. Users only required knowing the basic edit and save functions to participate. However it wasn't used as much as expected, after couple of weeks there was no much input from users. I felt my Wiki Space activity experience is similar to what I had before. Wiki is a great online “blackboard”, anyone can share their ideas freely, change the layout or use colour coding to make it more visual friendly. The amazing part of Wiki is that we can sit behind a computer but sharing ideas with people around the world in an organised online space. If I need a digital tool to pull together ideas from students, Wiki is a great option. However Wiki space does have weakness, the main draw back for me is the Wiki space can end up quite messy since it allows too much information on display. This means that teacher might need to spend huge amount of time to maintain the site, make sure the right amount of information is there, and keep guiding students to form a healthy safe online community.

Digital Tool 1 – Blog

A Blog is a website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events or other material such as graphics and videos (CQUniversity Australia, 2013).Since I was introduced to Google blog, it has become my learning experience online recorder. The Blog owner is in charge of posting and layout, editing guests’ participation such as removes guests’ comment or edit guests’ permission level for them to comment on the Blog. As a result it is easier to keep tidy and clear. Blog has better visual effect and layout compare with Wiki. Owner can edit the layout to draw viewers’ attention to the essential materials in the blog. Some students are more active through digital tools compare with classroom learning, so teacher can use Blog to engage with them. Teacher can post daily learning material summaries and invite students to comment on it. Teacher can also encourage student to set up their own blogs to record their learning experience, this is a good opportunity for teacher to check and scaffolding students’ learning experience through their blogs. Once students established their blogs, teacher can spend time to go through posting and comments online to help students to do learning reflection. Teachers need to make sure there is no cyber bullying, or another types of unacceptable online behaviour.

Digital Tool 2 – Podcasting

This week I was introduced to a series of tools which I think should be useful for everyone. Firstly there are the image tools, such as photos resizer and basic Photoshop. Image tools can be used to demonstrate trigonometry graphs; draw flowcharts such as exchange rate will affect currency. Secondly, we covered digital video tool. I have learned how to capture video and uploaded it to YouTube. Everything that is happening around the world is shared through video online, so how an online video clip in class is a great way to connect classroom with real world. Of course when it comes to image and video, we all have to be sure the online safety issue has been addressed. We need to make sure the use of copyright images and materials are able to be restricted according to the owner's wishes (CQUniversity Australia, 2013). I have practiced with each of those tools and please see the overall posting.

Lastly, the tool I really can’t wait to use in my class is pod casting digital tools. I have used Voki and Podomatic, they are both easy to use and can be embedded in my blog. I can use pod casting for my Chinese language students, I can read out a short paragraph that was taught in class, and then post it in my blog, so students can listen to it after class. This tool will definitely help students acquire knowledge even outside of school hours. With podcasting digital tool, students have the opportunity to listen to it as many times as they want. Pod casting is a great digital tool for language classes.

Digital Tool 3- PowerPoint

I have had a lot of experiences with PowerPoint through my previous study and work. It is such a powerful presentation tool and so much more can be utilized for teaching. For example the whole class lesson plan can be done in PowerPoint, the teaching material and other resources including pictures, videos, sound tracks and links can be embedded into PowerPoint. Teacher can use PowerPoint as a learning experience digital diary to record what curriculum have been covered in classes. The functions in PowerPoint are user friendly, it saves teacher a lot of time on editing. It is commonly used Microsoft software, there are many experts share their experiences and skills online, so that teachers pick up new PowerPoint skills from a wider community. One of important strength of PowerPoint is that it is owner controlled, so teacher is in charge of the materials. The materials need to be carefully checked before shown in class, and teacher need to make sure it is well organised to enhance students learning outcome.  I have no doubt I will use PowerPoint for my future classes.

Digital Tool 4 – Google Map

Google Map is an online based digital map, it can be used as a navigational tool. Teacher can use this tool to support mathematics classes learning. Google Map can be used to find the fastest route from A to B and compare the speed difference between using public and private transportation. There are many clever algorithms behind this tool, so students can see how mathematics can be useful real life. Once students are “hooked”, teacher can ask them to complete a project by using Google Map. For example how to go to their friends’ place for a Saturday event, students can create a couple of different routes to get to destinations. They can then use Google Map to validate their calculations for each route. Google Map does have some downsides, there are embedded advertisements and inappropriate images captured by Google’s street camera.  Teacher needs to carefully plan before I show students.

Conclusion

ICT is well positioned to cater all learners, consider the infinite combinations available of individual and collaborative work, social networking, visual, auditory and interactive resource colour and multiple formatting opportunities (CQUniversity Australia, 2013). Those 5 ICT tools I have mentioned above will definitely be utilised for my future practise (if school allows it).  It is important for me to understand that 21st century students are living in a world of technologies. E-learning allows students to have 24/7 access to online learning experiences, it also allows distance students to experience the interactive learning through digital learning tools online.
I think planning for digital pedagogy is one of the most important parts. Teachers need to ensure ethical, legal and safe use of digital tools in school, and this will require attention every step of the way. There are so much potential from using ICT tools for teaching and I believe teachers are responsible to be equipped with the latest ICT skills.

Week 6 - Engagement Activity 1 Mobile phone for class

Activity 6-1 mobile phone for class

Mobile phone, I can use the camera function to capture step by step instructions for my demonstration how to make a paper air plane, then upload them to my PowerPoint use it in class. I can use the sound recorder app in my iPhone to record Chinese reading for secondary language classes, send it as an audio file to students’ email, so they can listen to it when and wherever to reinforce their learning.

I think it is a bit hard for me to come up with a specific strategy of how I am going to use ICT for class, but once the content is there and more I know about my learners, it will be easier. Looking online there are so many interesting ways of using apple apps for math, here is one for a senior level math app, I am sure I will have to find it once I can start teaching.

I have also got my QR code for my blog:)

Week 5 - Engagement Activity 5-7 tool 4 Google Map

Activity 5-8 tool 4 Google Map

Both Google Earth and Docs are great tools for me to prepare and plan for my classes, but the tool I would like to explore with students during a class session is Google Map.

Google map is similar to Earth in their functions. They can both show satellite imaging as well as street layout, however Google map does not require any software to be downloaded. It is an online based tool, and Google is updating their map information constantly. I can demonstrate the concept of transportation speed versus distances for math classes using the options for “walk, car or bus” for distance calculations under Google maps. It allows user to input multiple addresses and instantly calculate the traveling distance and the time spent between those locations. User can choose the options of car, bus or walk, even cycling if people prefer a more active lifestyle.

After relocating from New Zealand to Rockhampton, I use Google map on a daily basis. It is great tool to show me where to go and find things in this new city. Its various user friendly functions are easy to demonstrate to students. It helps them to see how applied mathematics behind the tool does wonderful things for people’s life. I would encourage them to find out what else we can use this tool for, besides comparing distance, time differences between using different transportations, decision making when choosing routes and so on.

However Google map does have some shortcoming. There are commercial purposes information embedded in the images which could cause legal concerns; and unsuitable behavior may be captured in the street view which can be upsetting. So I need to spend time to go through the material before classes, make sure there won’t be any legal or safety issues in my demonstration. It is a time consuming process, luckily there is function in Google Maps called “my places”,  it allows me to save locations and list them under my own map folders, and help me to organize the locations from Google map that I will use for the classes.

I can come up with a task asking student to use Google Map and Prezi as a combination to do a project such as planning a travel around Australia. The students can find out all the details on Google Map, then use Prezi as a final presentation tool (as the example shown below), I really can’t wait to give this a go.

Week 5 Engagement Activity 7/8/9- tool 4 Google Earth/Map/Docs

Activity 5-7 tool 4-7/8/9 Google Earth/Map/Docs

Students in the class may from all over the world using Google earth is great tool to get them to see the big picture where others come from. For math class, Google earth can be used to explore distance, velocity and other things.

Google map is similar to earth, but no software needs to be downloaded, and it can be used for daily tasks when looking for a place to go. Finding distance and navigation this is one of the best tools for students to learn. I can use this to demonstrate speed for math classes, since under Google map, there are options for “walk, car or bus” for distance calculations.

Google doc, I have used this tool for my relocation from NZ  to Australia, me and my family have uploaded list of things to sale to buy or to ship, and we were working on it at the same time. This can be used for students to do their group assignment, working on an excel spreadsheet together is something they might find exciting.

Week 5 - Engagement Activity 4a tool 3-3 Glogster

Activity 5-3 Glogster

Glogster to me is a place to put everything together, my text from blog, my youtube video, my photo, all together for the topic. I don’t see a huge deal of advantage from this tool compare with is there, but it is hard to show them on one screen, the text place might be too small, and have to fit the video on the same page that to me is a bit too crowded.

Week 5 - Engagement Activity 3 tool 3-2 Prezi

Activity 5-2 Prezi

Prezi to me is like a live brain storm demonstration tool, it is a great presentation tool when I need to show how things are linked together, or if I need to show my logic process of a topic. Prezi might be good to show my business classes how the economics are linked, how other part of economics react when something changes such as exchange rate or prices; it is a great tool to show links and big picture.

It has a better visual animation between slides and might be more interesting for students, the changes between slides is an illusion to tick students, and sort of in a way to “force” them to think they are following logic between the slides.

I haven’s spend too much time on this tool, I think the depth of the tool might not be as much as PowerPoint, so might be easy to pick up once I have an opportunity to use it. I had play with it for world maps, and the Easter plan, here is what I have done. I think I will use Prezi if I have a class of students needs to see some chain reaction presentation.

Week 5 - Engagement Activity 2 tool 3-1 PowerPoint

Engagement Activity tool 3-1 PowerPoint

I have always been a basic user of PowerPoint during my previous study or work experience. After the three tutorial materials it is an eye opener for how much power point can do. It is really a magic tool.
o         For presentation support, there is no doubt it is a great tool to hold the learning materials, or the key learning point for the class by highlighting them, or add emphasis animation on that slide. It is easy to capture different types of learners in the classroom.
o         What I learned today is the quiz tool, present the question on the page and followed by the answers next page, that gives the students sometimes to think and then there the next page the answers are there, and I maybe able to ask students if I have missed anything other answers and add their thinking to the slide, which is a great way to engage the learners.
o         Since the tool allows many kind of media to be added to it, it can make the learning material very interesting, hence it will help students to understand different dimension of the knowledge.
o         PowerPoint can be used for homework or projects, a group of students can come up with their own PowerPoint to present their findings or study results. It is depends on the students how much functions they want to use, or they can stick to the basic, which is very flexible. The end result can be captured for assessment record.
o         Another way of using the sound and text combination is for second language learning, I can type the Chinese characters and place the sound button beside it, so students can learn by listen to the sound from the PowerPoint slide, and they can access it outside of school as well.

The function of save word document to a PowerPoint slide is great too; I have not seen it before now it is a new skill learned. However, I don’t really agree with using moving the picture in PowerPoint to create movies. There are better products out there for movie maker, especially I am going to teach secondary, and the animation needs to be a lot more mature for the senior audiences. I think PowerPoint may have the function to support that, but it is more time consuming to use it for movie maker instead just use a movie maker tool directly.

Overall, I can see myself using PowerPoint for my math and business or most definitely for Chinese language classes, it is a great ICT tool for presentation/quiz/tasks inside or outside classroom.

I have created a very basic PowerPoint, but I have not figure out how to link to Blog yet, will see how it goes, any one have any ideas of how to link a PowerPoint to blog?

I found the answer to this one, I uploaded the PPT to wiki, so here it is Easter Holiday Plan ppt

here is also the slideshare version

Week 4 - Engagement Activity 8: upload video

Engagement Activity 8:upload video

Here we go, the no sound video uploaded to youtube, embarrassing, but this is what I experience from windows movie maker.
It was a pain to find out why, and my other touch smart movie maker works at the same time.

At the moment I will stay away from video for the classes, as youtube or all kind of video tubes have too much safety risk. For secondary students, the can easily get off track looking online videos and not concentrating on the subject materials, and it is already too much time consuming.

Although if there is a holiday project, I will consider getting students to make their own videos and share with each other.

Week 4 - Engagement Activity 7: Digital video

Engagement Activity 7 : Digital video

photo for Guitar

made this little video with windows movie maker, I couldn't get the sound to work, but I do have another movie maker program on my computer which works better, after looking at online review windows movie maker is not the best option, so I don’t think I will use this in the future.

Week 4 - Engagement Activity 6: podcasting

Engagement Activity 6: Podcasting

Here is my very first podcast through podomatic

This is a better version of Voki? Maybe

PMI for Podcasting

Pod casting
Positive
it is more personal
it attracts the auditory learners
it is fun and engaging
it can be download to potable devices
no need for subscribe
Minus
Time consuming to do good sound record
it can be boring
Interesting
it can be used for a lot of teaching

But I like this one better somehow more than the Voki. It is a bit tidier and easy to use. The visual effect is better, but I would really use the mixture of Voki and Podomatic depends on the year level.

Maybe I can show students how to use this tool, and for second language classes, I can get students to read something and record it in their second language and using podomatic to respond to my blog. I will have my copy of podcast  link there for them to compare, this can be quite interesting.

Thanks
Tina

Week 4 - Engagement Activity 5: podcast

Engagement Activity 5: Using web-based Podcasting

Math podcast

This might be a good idea to educate myself, and use the math podcast to show students or parents that how math is used in our life, this will help to get students engaged by using podcast. It is very useful for myself, to connect to other math teachers online to see what they are doing for this profession.

I thought podcast is only audio, but if this video is a podcast, does that mean it is also visual?

Week 4 - Engagement Activity 2: flickr

Week 4 - Engagement Activity 2 Access and Upload digital photographs in Flickr

Oh yeah, I have got my very first flickr account

Quite amazed about Tag Galaxy, what a beautiful animation.

Week 4 - Engagement Activity 1: photo resize

Week 4 - Engagement Activity 1 Resizing and uploading digital photos

Re size my FOOD photos :P

re-sized these food photos, the size of them reduced to 100-200 kb from over 2000kb. This will still let viewers get the ideas from the photo, but saves me a lot of time uploading them.
good tool, definitely will use it again.

Thanks

Week 3 - Engagement Activity 5: weebly reflection

Engagement Activity 5: Creating a website - blog reflection
Reflect on the functionality of a website. What did it allow you to do?
Weebly is a more complex ICT, it allows pretty much everything that blog and wiki combine, but the owner has more control, and the product has a better finish look. Create pages, upload all kinds of gages, slide show photos, videos, even audio file.

How can it be used in your context, for you, and your learners? Use a thinking tool, such as a SWOT analysis or PMI to brainstorm its functionality. Think also about how you could use a static website to support student learning, but also how your students can use one to express their creativity.

After looking at three different tools, and the experience I had from the last couple of weeks. I think weebly is a better finish product to host learning information, so I have posted a “How to” page on weebly, once student have an idea what they need to learn, they can then click on the button to post their learning experience on “how to wiki”. There is a placeholder for all the information, and there is a place for them to freely share what they have learned or ask teacher any questions. I think a combination of ICT can be quite useful.
I would treat Wiki as a playground where has all the “draft” or free ideas, then tidy them up, post them to weebly so students can have a clear summary of what they have learned. With photo slide, I can post students good work on weebly, this can be a encouragement for them to get competitive, I will probably set up the rule to post three great work from what I found on their learning wiki site and post it to weebly. Whoever got their work posted 5 times can get a chance to create a post and show us a “how to” on weebly.

Weebly- PMI

Plus
         Much better finish look
         Easy to added and edit
         Different pages on top
         Owner controlled
Minus
         Time consuming
         No input from others
Interesting
This can be a tided up place for wiki

To me, weebly is the finish product I would use to present materials, rather than use it during the process.

Week 3 - Engagement Activity 4: create weebly

My weebly

not really done yet, but it is almost 12am Saturday night, so this is it for today :)

Week 3 - Engagement Activity 3: Wiki reflection

Engagement Activity 3: Creating a wiki -  reflection

My wiki
  1. In your blog, create a new posting reflecting on the learning potential of a wiki in your context.  You are considering the technical affordances of the wiki (the things it can do), and how these can be used by you and your students to support, facilitate and transform learning.  Again, be sure to write analytically rather than being just descriptive. A SWOT analysis or PMI is a suitable scaffold for your analysis.
Wiki has huge potential to be used for sharing work or knowledge, the problem for me is that wiki is a bit hard to maintain once everyone can have their say. On the plus side, I can create a project for a single topic I am doing, and assign students to a team to respond to it. Maybe even do a competition between groups, students can be encouraged to post up videos they can find related to that topic, and explain why they choose that particular video.
SWOT for wiki
  • Strength
Able to create project
Able to sign groups to a project
Easy for users to participate
Able to check wiki history
  • Weakness
Multiple users cannot save their input at the same time
Hard to manage user to follow the instruction
Hard to control input
Time consuming to maintain wiki content
  • Opportunity
Make a global classroom
Collect knowledge from more people
Learn about students from their inputs
  • Threat
Cyber bullying
Easy for users to mess up the format
Easy for users to delete content by mistake
Once struggle with wiki users will not return
Exposed to inappropriate materials

  1. As should now be embedded in your practice, be sure to consider the legal, safe and ethical requirements in working in a wiki. How will you support the development of these habits in your students?
There will need to be a basic house rule about the wiki site; this should be covered by school rule. I might show couple of examples to students if they do not follow the rules, their permissions maybe removed or limited compare with students who does. Show students examples of good wiki, and encourage students to build the wiki towards those sample wiki pages.
The other safety issue could come from the links or videos embedded to wiki, which students have no control of. This takes the teacher to spend time to check and maintain the wiki site to make sure it is safe; to me this could be one of the worse weaknesses for wiki, time consuming and hard to control the content.
  1. Be sure also to link to your experiences in the Moodle wiki in Weeks 1 and 2. You should already have a blog posting responding to the reflection questions for these activities.
From week1&2 wiki, I am start to release the strength of wiki compare with blog. Wiki can be a good place to find ALL information from more users, but blog is a more personal or a group of people place. Blog can be well organized, compare with wiki I found blog is much tidier.

  1. Be sure also to consider in your reflection that it is not just you, but more importantly your students, who will own and be working in the wiki space.
Wiki can be less attractive, because a lot of people are involved and the less attention you would likely to get from teachers if students were seeking for one on one advise.
Once students have a bad or unpleasant on wiki, it is going to be very hard to get them back to the system again. So the process of setting up instruction is important, and make sure it is easy for students to follow, and make sure the wiki site is well maintained with useful information.

Week 3 - Engagement Activity 1: Blog reflection

Engagement Activity 1: Creating a Blog - Reflection

Blog to me is very flexible; we can make it very personal like a personal online dairy or make it online learning space. For my subjects, I would make it more personal for Math subject, because this might help students find Math a bit more interesting and related to their life outside of school, and I would make it more academic for my business classes, it can be a great place holder for all kind of information about the world of business, and students share their findings and comment on each topic.

Blog
         Plus
·           Flexible
·           24/7
·           Socially Interactive
·           Visual
·           Auditory
·           Connect people outside of class
·           Easy to organize
·           Easy to use

Blog can be managed to cover variance types of leaners, the visual or auditory there will be pictures and videos; for sequential and global the posts can be well organized they will be able to follow step by step or see the big picture by looking at the post history on the side; for active or reflective learners they can choose to comment on the post, or just read and take the key points they think is helpful from a blog.

         Minus
·           Time consuming
·           not accessible if no computer
·           No real time feedback
·           No protection on the blog content
·           cyber bullying
·           not face to face
To be blog is focusing on the declarative knowledge, and not able to demonstrate that users have learned procedural knowledge. There will be no way to show students have understand how to carry out a chemistry lab tasks unless it is performed in real life. So I guess blog can be quite limited, I will need to be very careful when to use it, and what to use it for. The purpose of using blog in my class needs to be carefully thought through first.

         Interesting
·           can show personality
I struggled with the difference between “plus” and “interesting” so did not come up with enough ideas here.

After looking at a lot of blogs online, I realsie people can make their blog extremely “boring” but really academic or just focusing on the topics, as it will be useful for people just seeking for information or knowledge instead of entertainment. Most of blogs are showing some level of personality of the owner, through the colour or template they choose or the layout may have been changed. How much pictures they used, and I even come across someone used the same youtube clip as me, so that was exciting. I find it was helpful using blog to host all my engagement activities, and named they week by week, it made it easy for me to look back and search for information.  The whole experience was pleasant enough, and not a waste of time. Blog is limited online sharing tool compare to some of other online interactive sharing website, such as facebook or my space, but it is good in some level so the purpose of using blog can be managed well because of its limit. I would definitely give it a go once start teaching.

Week 2 - Engagement Activity 4: wiki activity reflection

Activity 4 Blog reflection on wiki activity

My wiki

This(essential) activity is to post a reflection about the learning that was facilitated in the Mobile Phones wiki, analysing it within the context of the learning theories you are starting to consolidate.
Is this forum reflective of Behaviourism, constructivism, cognitivism, connectivism? One, or all of the above?

Reflection of behaviorism, it is a low level content wiki site, the topic (Bono's Six Thinking Hats) is an well know theory and easy to adapt. The action involved is explained in clear steps, and everyone seems to be able to follow. I found it was a bit hard to fine information and keep the format simple, as the wiki is now full of information but looks messy.

Reflection of constructivism, I think wiki is the open platform for everyone to participate; everyone is interacting with another learner on this communication platform. The only problem for me is that it was not easy to follow who said what, but the conversation history is recorded there.

Reflection of cognitivism, the layout on this wiki has divided into six different section by the different colour of thinking hat. It guides me to see the different parts I need to participate to, the table format was helpful on some level. It was easy to find out what other learners’ idea on that particular thinking hat, it created a space for me to seek relevant information.

Reflection of connectivism, I have learned so much more from other learners’ answers to this topic, sometimes even able to realize my misconception about Bono's Six Thinking Hats in the past.

What are the characteristics of the wiki design that lead you to that understanding?

The fact anyone can participate and there is no record of who said what?(not sure am I right about that). This gives people freedom to say what we think and we know, and share the knowledge. So if I think each of the thinking hat as the branches for a mind map, then this wiki is an online mind mapping process bring all people’s knowledge to the same “map”. It helps me to gather ideas, and see for explanations before I reach my understanding of each topic, and share my knowledge with others.

Reflect on your own personal participation in the wiki. What are the benefits, issues, drawbacks of participating in a wiki like this?

Benefits are I can see everyone's answers, I felt there is this connection between everyone by doing this activity together we are a community.
Drawbacks, the lay out was very hard to follow, or it is hard to be interpreted in different ways by different user. It also has no right or wrong on this wiki. I might have said something that is completely wrong, but it is recorded on this wiki as if someone else could think that is correct. Also it is easy to delete someone else’s participation by mistake and mess up the format. Anyway I found it was a bit Messy.

How would it contribute to the learning of your students?

This can be used as a good place for students to freely express what they know and what they have learned or even a place to ask questions. They will know once they post something on wiki, it is public information shared with everyone. This helps students who would not share much else where but feel more secure or comfortable to share online. Also this gives teachers and other tool to help to understand their learners and build connections.

How did the scaffold support the collection of a range of perspectives?

There are certainly some guidance and good connection from doing this wiki activities that helps me to learn this topic, and see other users' ideas. It is categorizes and coloured and easy to follow. I assume there is one person the teacher will be in charge of checking or valid the participation from users, and guide us to the right direction of understanding. This exercise helped me to see how wiki works, and where are the areas I will need to be careful with when using wiki as an ICT tool for classroom learning.

At last, I am not supporting mobile phone in class. Not yet, it is not ready to me.

Week 2 - Engagement Activity 3: wiki task

Engagement Activity 3  Working in a wiki

Mobile phone in class

Judgement:

What is wrong with this??
·         Students can easily get distracted by this tool and not focusing on learning.

Why will this not work?
·         We have not had enough experience yet with how to bring this technology to class, the current students will be just on experiment
Is this safe?
·         It can be safe if there was enough preparation done, I have confident in technology that can make this approach safe but it brings a lot of risk with it.

Can this be done?
·         This can be done; it takes long time preparation and testing it out, because it can easily go wrong. Students may not learn anything if this does not work well.

The Process:

Where are we now?
·         Some school already have done this.
What is the next step?
·         Regulation about who mobile can be used in class.
Where have we been?
What sort of thinking is needed?
·         Security and safety

Information:

What information do I have?
·         Mobile phone is used by people in their daily life, it plays a very important part of our life now.
·         Most of the students would be very excited about having mobile phone in class.
What are the facts?
·         Mobile is mainly used as a communication tool, now it can also be used as a personal organisor and much more.

What information do I need?
What do I want to KNOW?
·         I will need to know what type of mobile phone is it.
·         What class we are using mobile phone.
·         How often we are going to use it.
·         What type of applications we are going to use for class room?
·         Who has approved those applications for the class room?

Benefits:

What are the good points?
·         Create connection between students, students and teacher.
·         Enhancing learning outcome

Why can this be successful?
·         It can help teaching to be more effective.

Why is this a good thing?
·         This shows that our education system is evolving through time, technology going to classroom is essential because we are living in the world of technology (most of the time), why hide our children from it when they have to face it one day.

Feelings:

How do II feel about this?
·         Very exciting but also see it is a big challenge for teachers to make it work well.

What do I like about the idea?
·         Students will be hooked. Connected the class with students’ life.

What don't I like about the idea?
·         There are expect and unexpected risk with this idea, we may have students isolate themselves and just communicate with people by mobile which is not the intension.

Creativity:

What new ideas are possible with this?
·         We have a new of connecting learners, this would encourage students to communication support each other, this may help students to improve their behaviour in class since we have something that’s related to their life outside of school. Children are the most creative group of people, they may suggest some new ideas as well.

What is my suggestion for success?
·         Make sure the safety control is set up really well.

Can I create something new?
·         Maybe I am not sure yet. Could get students to txt their answers to me instead of paper.
